As an avid Wired subscriber, I am often impressed with the typography of the magazine. This led me to license Vitesse when it was released a few months ago. Now H&FJ have released Forza, the sans counterpart to Vitesse. I need to save some pennies and get it I think.

Beautiful lettering. Photo by Kyle Steed.

This ad for Absolut Vodka is awesome. I love the song (Ceremony by New Order, covered here by Fall On Your Sword) and I love the lettering.

I completely agree with stewf:

What I love most about this kind of lettering and illustration, is that it’s nearly impossible, even for a trained eye, to guess when it was made. This is a wood engraving print from 1873, but it could easily be offset lithography from 1953 or a pen sketch from 2010.

I agree with Stewf. Now I wanna learn calligraphy.

Hermann Zapf. If I could letter like that (especially in the segment 13:20-14:35), I wouldn’t do anything else.
